Revolutionary Rucksacks with the Osprey Tropos 32 !
We’re big fans of cutting edge rucksacks and backpacks at GYGO. Any means of carrying your tech and other valuables in a safe, comfortable means is essential for anyone who’s constantly on the move.
So when we heard about Osprey’s range of ‘Everyday / commute backpacks which offer a range of backpacks catering to those on their daily commute, exploring the city or venturing further afield we simply had to find out more!
Osprey were kind enough to let us check out their fantastic men’s Tropos 32 backpack which comes in a range of new colours (Nori Green, Misty Grey, Cardinal Blue, Tropical Green, Anchor Grey, and Pearl Grey). It should also be said the backpack comes in a women’s variety too ‘the Talia’. Osprey have long held a great reputation in backpack and baggage design so we were especially intrigued to see how their everyday range would fare.
Straight out of the box, the Tropos clearly stands apart from the competition aesthetically. The minimalist edging and easy to reach pockets are clearly thoughtfully laid out and make accessing your essentials easiest when you need them most. There’s also the fantastic Osprey ‘kickstand’ which keeps your bag upright when full, ideal for waiting on train station platforms or when you’re grabbing a drink in a cafe – which means you won’t have to worry about it tipping over. A really clever addition.
We were also really impressed with the scale and weight of the product – at just 1.24kg and with maximum dimensions of 56cm x 33cm x 31cm (depth) you know this pack will be able to carry not only your essential tech but also a comfortable amount of luggage too. Quite often backpacks suffer from a lack of comfortability over time, especially causing friction against your back. Not in the case of the Tropos 32 where the backpack has an Airspeed ventilated trampoline suspended mesh back panel to ensure your back stays ventilated as you carry your goods. So you won’t have to suffer a worn back from carrying a heavy laptop with you around the city. Put to the test we were especially impressed with how well this functioned. You really feel the freedom of the mesh panel allowing air flow and a painfree back.
Talking of tech it had to be said we loved the padded laptop and tablet sleeve. Something which is often overlooked by backpacks, having a well protected means of accessing your laptop when you need it most is truly invaluable. Osprey have thoughtfully covered this, with a secure and well protected, durable means of protecting your laptop or tablet devices so you have total peace of mind when traversing with your work station. We fitted the bag out with a heavy amount of luggage plus a laptop and were taken aback by how safe and secure the laptop was when in transit. Equally being easily reachable too.
On top of laptop space there’s also a range of other fantastic spaces including an internal key attachment clip, a removable webbing hip belt, stretch mesh side pockets (for drinks bottles) and vertical centred zippered pocket for easy access to your goods. Osprey have also considered safety too with an LED light attachment point, and reflective graphics in case you take your bag out with you at night. We particularly loved these features which ensure night treks or bike riders are well catered for allowing for better visibility from traffic or even other hikers.
Even more astoundingly should you find yourself in an emergency situation, Osprey have got this covered too with a handy Sternum strap featuring an emergency whistle, meaning even in the most adverse of conditions you know you’ve got a means of signalling for help, which is pretty amazing.
Carrying heavy backpacks is always an issue, but again Osprey have really thought about weight distribution. We loved the side compression straps allowing the user to comfortably adjust the bag to fit their posture accordingly. These really do a fantastic job in ensuring you remain utterly comfortable whilst carrying particularly heavy luggage. We really pushed the bag to the limits and were truly astounded by how comfortable the bag remained even with a heavy load.
All in we absolutely loved the Tropos. There’s a range of fantastic storage compartments within a stunning functional backpack which is perfect for everyday city use or taking it further afield – and at the price it’s a steal.
